Dawn on Aspen Island – Canberra

The first rays of the sun illuminate the National Carillon, on Aspen Island in central Canberra.
The carillon was a gift from the British government to the people of Australia to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the National Capital, Canberra.
The 50 metre tall tower has 55 bells each weighing between 7 kg and 6 tonnes and was designed by architects Cameron, Chisholm Nicol.
Aspen Island is the largest of three islands at the south-eastern end of Central Basin of Lake Burley Griffin
